End-users and computer consultants often spend a considerable amount of time (and money) looking at various systems before deciding to buy. With thousands of computer outlets having sold hundreds of different brands of computers, it can be a complicated exercise to arrive at the correct computer solution. Insurance companies that have to replace computer systems (hardware, software and support) are faced with an overwhelming number of variables. In is not hard to understand why Claims Advisors and their assessors struggle with computer claims.
In order to understand the product range available through Uniway, it is important to realise that products available to end users come through many different sources.
Toshiba, Acer and Hewlett Packard sell most of their range through wholesale outlets such as Ingram Micro, Dove Electronics and eXeed. However, not all of their range is available through these sources. Certain models are specifically manufactured for retail chains such as Dick Smith Electronics and Harvey Norman. These companies are committed to buying large volumes of a certain model and as such do not tend to market product that is available through normal computer stores.
Sony products are available through wholesalers. However, Sony also sells product that is exclusive to their own stores, which sell no other brands.
Dell is a manufacturer who sells directly to the end-user.
Apple sells exclusively to Apple dealers who are often committed to selling only Apple product.
Many users have bought custom-built systems which have been assembled by hundreds of assemblers throughout the country. Some of these were notorious for putting together "low-end" systems made up of cheap components. Others are ethical and have extremely high standards in both product and assembly.
Uniway has not handled one claim where we have been unable to obtain product. In order to do this, we have had to work with manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to resolve claims. Furthermore, due to our longevity in the industry, no supplier has ever refused to open an account for us. In other words, the list of products available to insurers, via Uniway, is as long as there is product. The list of suppliers is as many as there are available.
